Popped by the Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention (STGCC) last night after work and I thought it was so-so, a little disappointing even. Maybe it was because I went during the closing hours, so I couldn't really feel the 'vibe' and 'atmosphere' of the event, but I thought the convention needed more exhibits. Not just some lame exhibits featuring figures we've ever seen or know, but proper specials and sneak previews of upcoming figures. Last year we had a lovely Star Wars exhibit, lots of Gundams on show and even a simple Medicom showcase, this year was pretty much bare.
Also, I noticed that there seems to be more booths selling stuff, and that doesn't excite me anymore. The usual suspects were all present at STGCC and there's nothing new on sale. Most of the stuff that are on sale are those that weren't popular with collectors in the first place. They are just trying to clear their excess stock.
Still, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of local artists setting up booths at the convention - proof that Singapore has a rather active community of artists - and even during the closing hours, there were still events happening over at the main stage.
I understand that Brian Bolland of Batman: The Killing Joke fame will be present at the convention too. That's pretty cool I suppose, for an artist of international renown to grace only little convention.
Anyhow here are some pics I took. Hopefully next year's will be better.
1 hour from closing time and there were still throngs of people. Scouring for bargains perhaps?
Eh, no Breadou?
Bring lotsa coins if gashapon machines are your kinda thing.
The only things that got me excited. Sidehow Barbarian + showcase of Primes and Megatrons.
